Social Media posting: do you do it? If you are running any business I sure hope you are. If not you need to stop reading, get some accounts set up and then come back. I am going to go over why you should be posting on social media in case you have not read my other posts and the kinds of social media posting you can do.
Showcase your brand on Social Media
First, why should you be posting on social media? The first answer is for SEO. Google cares that your business posts on social media however it does not care what the content is. The second reason is to stay in front of people's faces. The more you pop up the more you are in someone's face the more likely they are going to give you business. For example you are on FB or Instagram and the local plumber is constantly in your feed. Then one day a pipe starts leaking. I would put money that the first place you think of calling is that dang plumber that is always in your feed. To call them you google them and they pop up first because google likes that they post on social media. Boom sale that the plumber would have lost if they were not posting on social media regularly.
So now that you know that it is very important to post on social media you need to ask yourself why you are posting on social media. Knowing what kind of posting and how you want to represent your brand will answer your question if you need to book a social media session and if you should do it regularly. Ask yourself do you want to be the first business that comes to mind or do you want it to be your competitor? If you want it to be you then you need to do a little bit more than your competitor. This translates to getting on the books for a social media content session ASAP so you can get content out there.
Getting content out there and your options. Some options for managing your content are hiring a social media manager, your website host may have an option for posting social media or do it yourself. If you are very serious about posting and staying in front you should have a social media manager or check with your website builder to see if they have options for posting. Unless you are very savvy and have time don't do it yourself. So what do these people do? Well, a social media manager is going to take your content and post for you on social media channels. They do a great job of writing and scheduling your posts but don't typically create your content. They are professionals at picking out the right photo with the write wording to promote your business, they make the fancy template, respond to messages and do a lot more. They host your website, build your website and they will also post on multiple platforms at once for you. Most of these companies will create content for you with what you give them or with their own resources. Think of the local dentist office that posts regularly but they are typically just words or an article. That's what you get when you don't have content created for you with you, but, like I said, there are plenty of options to get you a good fit.
So we know you want to be number one and put your competition to dust. It is time to get some content done. MJoy Photos will work with your social media manager or you to create content that is for your business posting. One company I work with has a fun fact Friday and we make sure to get some images for that every time we have a session. If you're an outdoor brand we will make content outside to reflect your brand. The best part is you can get tons of content in one session. This is tons of custom content that features your brand doing its thing the way you want it to be. If we are working with a social media or content manager we will get the plan together and deliver the content to them so they can post how they envisioned it or we can give it right to you to post or send off.
How often do I need to book a social media session? Well that all depends. Ugh I know how people hate that but every business is different and has different needs. Every business also posts at different frequencies. Some post daily, others a few times a week. This all makes a difference on how often you need to book a content session. You may want to do one every quarter so that you have the next holiday content ready to post on social media and then add sessions in for special events or do it a couple times a year. The important thing to know is that we will work with you to create a plan that works for your business.
The main take away from this is using yourself to promote your business on social media can humanize your brand, build trust with your audience, and establish a personal connection. People are often more inclined to engage with content shared by a real person rather than a faceless company, allowing you to showcase your expertise, share behind-the-scenes insights, and create authentic interactions that resonate with your followers. Additionally, personal branding can help differentiate your business from competitors and foster loyalty among your audience.
