My Dear Friend AI (Artificial Intelligence)

I am sure you have seen ad’s or been in a conversation lately about AI. It seems to be all around us, CHATGPT, Photoshop the list goes on. With everything that is new that comes out there always seems to be two sides. One that hates the change and one that loves it. Seriously it is so much fun!Today I am going to proudly tell you that I LOVE AI! I also have a bold opinion that any photographer that is against it is absolutely bonkers!

You would never know she was wearing an embarrassing shirt and no, those are not her jeans or legs.

So why do I love it? Well I think that it has the ability to enhance images substantially and can lower cost for some wild photo ideas. Thinking about the photo below. Prior to AI in order to have a picture taken with an owl it would cost a ton of money. You would have to hire a falconry person. Yeah, I have no idea what a person who has an owl is called. Insert another problem! So now you hire that person and they can only show up at a certain time and day. Now you have added time constraints to the list of problems in addition to your photographer having no idea how to get a real owl in the studio! So lets say that your photographer is better at owl knowledge then I and you happen to be available at the time the owl person is. The session is still going to cost more because it is going to take longer to get a cool photo with a live animal. If your as old as I am you probably may have had your photo taken with a live baby tiger at Kmart. Remember when Tiger King was a thing? I digress. They are also going to charge you more because they will have more cleaning to do and may have to rent a special place that will allow birds of pray. Yeah owls eat things that are alive. The other option would be that a sweet photographer that is skilled at taking pictures of owls and humans has an awesome owl photo. Click HERE to see a photographer with cool owl photos. :) your welcome. Now that your back, having an owl photo is great but it now has to be photoshopped properly into your sweet photo. Let me tell you this is wildly harder than you think it is.  Don't believe me? Go subscribe to photoshop and try it out.

AI Gone WRONG

The other option is to hire a photographer that knows a thing or two about AI. This is also not an easy thing to use. Contrary to popular belief you do not just type an animal and get one. Example to the right of AI gone wrong. Does that look like a white unicorn? If you think so I think you should go to the eye doctor.

Although using AI is great because you don't have to find a fancy owl person, or a photographer that is great at wildlife and people. This is not usually a thing. Photographers tend to stick to people, homes, weddings, animals etc. It will also save you on time constraints, extra money for a longer session and such. However, yes however there are some drawbacks to it that I think everyone should understand. It takes time to get the right owl or object just right. AI in photoshop is still new and still learning and it takes skill to understand how to manipulate it to do what you want. You also can not get the same image every time. That means if you get your photo taken and want an owl in it chances are the same owl will not be in every picture. The same goes with different sessions. You see one with a cool white owl. Your white owl will likely look a bit different. So for now, it is a great way to offer something neat or enhance a great photo. I am hopeful in the future it will be easier to make the same thing appear over and over again. I can say that it does get better every day.
